A Guarded Woman

She’s been down all the wrong roads and loved all the wrong men.

Every time she tried to find her fairy tale, she was left holding her heart in pieces.

Soon, she built a wall around her heart..she was determined to protect herself against all those who didn’t deserve her love.

People would call her hard to love, difficult or stubborn, but she would just smile and keep going.

She had her reasons why she chose to be guarded and she didn’t have to justify them to anyone.

Her happiness meant more than anything and she’d been too quick to love before and let her standards lower too far..

And she was done making those mistakes.

She knew what she was worth and wasn’t going to accept anything less..not anymore.

She was determined to keep her head, heels and standards high.

She doesn’t need promises of the moon and stars, quite the opposite, in fact. needs all the things that most people overlook because they’re not acts of grandeur:

Honesty, patience, loyalty, communication and passion.

She was done chasing the wrong men hoping for the right relationship..

So, until a man came along that was willing to take it slow, earn her trust and show her his heart, she’d keep on living her best life..

Because unless he could show her all the reasons why she’d want to fall in love with him, she’d never jump foolishly into love again.

Her heart, her rules..

This time, she wasn’t playing any more games or wasting any more time..

She was playing for keeps..
